Edited by: CCP Atlas on 01/10/2009 08:46:16 Thank you all for your excellent feedback. Answers to specific questions below:
Originally by: Meissa Anunthiel
The description field allows for links to put inserted (to a solarsystem, character, whatever), but they don't show up when highlighting a fleet that's available (would be nice if they did, especially for locations).
Good point
Originally by: Meissa Anunthiel
If you select your fleet to have a description but keep it unregistered, the description goes away. I'm unsure the value of the "remain unregistered" value if the fleet shows up nowhere and the description is gone. Seems redundant to me (closing the window or clicking "cancel" achieves the same apparent effect).
Yes, we're still working the kinks out of the ui design
Originally by: Meissa Anunthiel
Registering a fleet should be available in the contextual menu of either self->fleet->register fleet or right clicking on the arrow in the fleet window (or both, ideally)
Good point
Originally by: Meissa Anunthiel
a multiline description gets chopped off, can the separator between the list of available fleets and the description be draggable to increase the height? or the description field have a scrollbar as necessary?
Yes, that's been defected.
Originally by: Mark Interiis A cap on the amount of people able to join would also be nice, not everything needs as many people as possible.
Good point
Originally by: Sargana Demorta it would also be a nice addition if you could right click on the boss of the fleets name and show info, start convo
Yes, contextual menus will be available
Also, players have raised the question of whether the Fleet Finder will not be useful for Factional Warfare since spies and evildoers will be able to join advertised fleets and grief. We will add the ability for the fleet finder advertisement to be marked as 'requires approval'. In this mode your application to the fleet will need to be approved before you can join.
We are still working on the fleet finder and on the fleet UI design as well so that it all fits better together. Stay tuned to changes on Singularity and feel free to give us feedback on this thread (in fact, I insist! :))

Like i've mentioned before a while ago, if this doesn't make it then it won't be used in 0.0 i can tell you that :) But if it makes it, then it really is a very awesome little addition to this game.
Yes, that will be in.

Excellent feedback, thank you.
As to the question of using this for people outside your corp/alliance/militia, we are in the process of adding a 'standing based' scope to the fleet finder. This will allow you to have your fleet open for people that you have set at high enough standing (and/or security rating).

The next iteration of the Fleet Finder and revamped Fleet UI will hit Sisi in the next couple of days. I'm looking forward to getting feeback from you guys on that.

Originally by: Virtuozzo If you can no longer link fleets to channels, and your fleet is hidden, what method other then manually inviting is there then? None, it seems?
If that is correct, then we must always advertise our fleet with the fleet finder, correct?
Yes, that's correct. The Fleet Finder has usurped the 'open fleet' functionality. The previous method was to open your fleet to 'corp' or 'alliance' and then you could link the fleet in a chat channel for your corp and alliance mates to click it.
Now you would advertise the fleet in the fleet finder with the corp or alliance restrictions to achieve the same functionality.
We're considering allowing you then to drag a fleet finder advert into the chat to achieve that 'click here to join my fleet, ya'all' functionality that you're referring to.

Bit confused now .. I do understand you cannot comment on the details, that is clear.
However, since the Fleet Finder UI container just does not fit neither for dimensions nor for practicality of use within the group of the fleet pane, do I submit that as a bugreport? The functionality works, the practicality doesn't, so to speak.
I mean, the Fleet Finder UI cannot be made smaller, since virtually none of the elements will fit in it if smaller then the minimum default size. And, it disrupts both sizing and positioning (persistent and common) of the container it is now a part of, to a point where it can even resize itself off screen, or bump another UI element off screen.
We've not been able to reproduce the bug of this pushing other things out of the window and that is clearly an issue that needs to be fixed. We would appreciate a bug report on that.
However, the fact that the fleet finder tab enlarges the window is of course by design and the only way to make these things fit into a common window which was one the the design requirements for this thing.
You don't use the fleet UI and the fleet finder much at the same time, since either you're in a fleet or you're looking for a fleet so hopefully this will not prove too bothersome.

Originally by: Cadde Edited by: Cadde on 14/10/2009 23:34:02 There are times when a group of people want to form a fleet in the corp but exclude a certain person inside that corp for various reasons. While that person isn't hated or anything like that, the group would rather not have him in the fleet but they still want to enjoy the power of the "Fleet invitation" link. This works fine on TQ because those people usually have a chat channel up that excludes those individuals that aren't desired in the fleet and in that channel it is possible to post the fleet invite link.
So i heard that this fleet invite link is getting dropped in favor of the fleet finder. But that's the problem, the fleet can then be seen and joined by that person even if he's not wanted in the fleet.
So how will this affect us? Are we now forced to selectively invite each person manually just because the new functionality, while awesome in it's own way, loses a feature that has been of great use in the past?
You could use the standing restriction for this. It can be used in conjunction with the 'corp only' restriction. Set your fleet-buddies to +10 standing and the fleet advert standing as well and voila.

Originally by: Razin Fleet Finder window minimum size (mainly height) is larger than that for the other tabs in the Fleet window group. When the Fleet Finder tab is selected it forces the pinned window to become larger.
Please set the min height to something smaller, preferably to what the Fleet window is set to.
Thanks!
This is something we're working on, based on player feedback.

Originally by: xena zena I don't see the point in removing feet linking in chat in an attempt to force people to use the fleet finder. In *MANY* instances a link in corp/alliance chat is the most efficient way to get people to join a fleet. It requires one click on their part. Explain the reasoning why that functionality is being removed?
You will be able to drag a fleet finder advert into chat as a click-to-join link.

Originally by: Chris Vattic I was wondering if you could add a fleet member log with information about who and when joined and left. I checked SiSi, but apparently it only records member movement to command positions and back. I would also love a way to check the fleet member log once the fleet has already disbanded.
That's already implemented internally and will be on sisi next week.

The Watchlist. It would be great to be able to alter the positions via drag&drop. Right now, the order is static. If i want to add someone to the top position, i have to throw everyone out of my watchlist, add the person, and add everyone again. This is getting quite tedious after a while. On the fleet finder itself: It seems that i can't open the fleet for _everyone_. A standing of 0.1 seems to be the absolute minimum. Intended?
We'll take the watch list reordering under consideration. As for the standing, yes, 0.1 is the absolute minimum. It represents a the lowest positive standing that you can constrain invitees to. As such, the Fleet Finder does not support completely open fleets; you can only invite people who you have set standing of.

Originally by: Sevani Not sure if mentioned yet but the FF window has a variable "minimum size" based on what tab you are on. If you are looking at the fleet or the broadcasts you can make it pretty narrow. But if you switch to the fleet finder. It makes the window much larger. It will screw up window placement in an already cluttered window.
This has been fixed.

Originally by: Vir Hellnamin Any chance for the link to have the fleet's name from the FFinder on it? Since just the "Fleet Invitation (Alliance)" currently sometimes is way too uninformative, or even mix'n'mess, requiring additional line for explanation.
Yes, it will have the name from the Fleet Finder.

Originally by: Villian Hello Fleet Scrum Team,
I would like to voice my approval and thanks for the changes made to the fleet UI and most especially the addition of a loot panel for data mongering! I tested it out for as a one man fleet and I hope to provide some more feedback on it in the near future.
While testing the loot tracker, it occurred to me that it might be a great tool to use as an 'ore' tracker while mining. A multi-purpose kit that would makes it easier to pay out individuals in a large group based on performance, guards against theft, and also makes for a sort of 'roid kill board. Do you think that the tool could be expanded to include the 'loot' obtained by mining, harvesting, etc?
Absolutely!

Originally by: Ender Wiggan I'm not sure if this is the best place for this, but it's related to fleet broadcasts. Would it be possible to introduce a shortcut like "ctrl + shift + click" so that it broadcasts the target you click on in the overview to the fleet? Also if it is possible can you ensure that it follows the same overview locking behaviour when you just hold ctrl by itself?
Would make things quicker for an FC to use the broadcast window.
We're going to have a shortcut to broadcast: Target for the currently selected item (doesn't have to be targeted).

Originally by: Two step Loot logging looks good. A couple of requests:
1) Include salvage. I know you guys said you were going to do this, but will it be included for the dominion release?
2) There doesn't seem to be a way to clear the log. It would be nice for the fleet boss to be able to clear it.
3) If I loot a mod and then jettison it and pick it up again it gets double counted. This will be a problem for the people that want to use the log for mining ops and PVE. Any way to fix this?
1) We'll try to get that into Dominion
2) The log exists on a per-character basis on the client and it's not a global fleet list that the boss can clear. We can look at putting in an option for a person to clear his/her log.
3) I'm afraid there's no way around this since we don't collect actual item information when logging occurs but rather just types and quantity (for performance reasons)
